Skin tags are actually bits of skin that frequently grow from a narrow stalk or project from the surrounding skin. These soft, balloon-like growths frequently occur in the skin folds or anywhere the skin rubs together or against clothing.
What causes skin tags?
The most common skin tag causes are related to friction of some sort, either from the skin rubbing against skin, or against clothing, jewellery, or other materials. These usually small outgrowths are actually bunches of collagen and blood vessels trapped inside thicker bits of skin.
Cauterization, Cryosurgery, Excision are treatment options for skin tags.
Warts:
Warts are asymptomatic skin growths caused by human papilloma virus. Warts can occur on any part of the body including genitalia and oral mucosa. The virus enters the skin through tiny cuts or abrasions. These are contagious that means they may spread from person to person, hence need to be treated.
Salicylic acid topical preparations, podophyllin resin, cryotherapy, cauterisation, CO2 laser ablation can be used to treat warts. Warts are usually recurrent and may require multiple sittings of treatment.
